Commerical Quick Drill Operator

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the supervisor and his appointed lead person, operates the CNC Drills machine to produce parts for the tower shop.

Read and interpret production drawings.
Uses shop mathematics, including decimals, complex fractions, and simple algebra to lay out various products of the unit, and determining various cutting depths, feed rates, and revolution per minute.
Operates upright drill presses, CNC machining center, radial arm drill, and hand drills.
Uses measuring instruments such as a protractor, framing square, tape measure, tri-square, center finder, levers, scribes, calipers, and drill gauges to fabricate various products of the unit.
Understands material requirements and specifications as stated on blue prints and drawings.
Decides through the use of learned solutions the sequence of set ups, operations, and processes within the limitations of recognized methods and procedures for completing work in process according to work schedules and constraint and shipping buffers.
Coordinates with other personnel in the small parts area to ensure the proper sequence of operations to be performed on specific parts to maintain work loads.
Maintains housekeeping in work area, and on all machines used.
Performs operator preventive maintenance on equipment, and informs supervisor and/or lead man of any breakdowns or damage of equipment or parts.
Write new programs and modify existing programs on a personal computer using CNC machining G-codes and word processing software, including transferring programs between the machining center and the personal computer.
Uses a digraph metal marker to write the individual part number specified on shop packet to the actual part for identification purposes.
Stacks completed parts and shop packets neatly on a wooden pallet according to part number and quantity. Assures parts are stacked neat and safe on pallet and moves the pallet to the “out area” or to the next designated work center using a pallet jack.
Reads and interprets work orders and daily production schedules. Writes entries on daily shop production labor report to show work completed.
Maintains housekeeping in assigned areas.
Responsible for safety and environmental issues regarding assigned area, i.e. material handling of material, crane use, vacuum lift use, cutting torch, hot parts, lifting weight limits, proper eye protection, and proper level in water table to minimize smoke generated during cutting process.

Requirements:

Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals.
Must be able to read and write.
Good listening skills preferred.
High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred
Must be able to stand 100% of scheduled shift. Lifting, pushing, prying, and dragging heavy materials.
Must be capable of bending, stooping, crawling under or over and occasional climbing.
Lifting up to 50 lbs.
Abnormal amount of heat due to the heating process.
Abnormal level of noise due to grinding, chipping, hammering requires hearing protection (ear plugs) be worn at all times.
Must possess adequate dexterity and stamina to sustain expected production effectively
